An exihibition of work by pupils in London marks the successful finale of our Maths Through Architecture pilot.
Year 6 and 7 pupils and their teachers from Tower Bridge Primary School and Chelsea Academy gathered at RIBA in Portland Place to have their work judged by a panel comprised of architect Christophe Egret; Trisha Rogers, the London Regional Co-ordinator for the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics; Dr Ajay Sharman, the Regional Director for the Science, Technology and Mathermatics Network (STEMNET) and Arts Inform chair Sue Davidson. Prizes were awarded for originality, relevance to locality/function, the quality and beauty of presentation of Mathematics through Architecture and how well the learning process was demonstrated.
The structures created by the young people were based on the theme of the 'Welcoming City'. The judges were imensely impressed not only by the work displayed but by the excellence of the children's presentations, speaking about and explaining their work.
The exhibition continues until 4th July.
