Tosca is a jealous opera singer who lives for art and love. Her lover is Cavaradossi, a painter with left-wing sympathies. Their opponent is Scarpia, the hard-line police chief, who tortures Cavaradossi and tries to seduce Tosca. She exacts revenge, but the dead Scarpia exacts his own punishment on them.
